SUMMER CHILL. 2000s - 2010s.
Not really a genre, just a style of easy going electronica for a holidays mood.
ELECTRONICA. 1990s - 2010s.
More often means all
electronic music styles but can sometimes be used as a genre term too. It's a loose collection of styles tho, for background play, but with an ok beat.
TRIP-HOP. 1990s.
A UK genre coming from around Bristol. Similar to ambient but borrowing a lot more from other styles, everything from funk to dub to hip-hop to psychedelia. It's that distinctive sound of acts like Massive Attack & Portishead.
DOWNTEMPO. 1980s - 2010s.
About halfway between Ambient and TripHop (there's no absolutely clear lines btw). It's really just ambient with a little more beat to the track at times.
AMBIENT. 1970s - 2010s.
Slow, often low-fi, and including quite a lot of instrumentals, it's intentionally unobtrusive almost "spaced out" music.
TRAP INSTRUMENTALS. 2000s - 2010s.
Kind of tenser ambient as most of the bass, drops and vocals from US Trap are taken out - just leaving the eerie style of the instrumentals themselves as a layer to put down new tracks on. Titles come from the originals.
JAZZ-HOP. 2000s - 2010s.
Very similar to Trip-Hop electonica but built up around a jazz group or jazz instrumentals, so more melodic.
Really nice genres IMO. Takes the bass patterns of Drum n Bass or Dub with modern production techniques, adds melodic vocals oftentimes, then slows the whole lot down to create a totally relaxing track.
