HOUSE 2000s. 2000s - 2010s.

House is 4 to the bar, off beat hi-hats typically, going back to early 1980s club music from Chicago and New York. This is recent so with a 2000s production sound. Compare Classic Garage or UKG for the old style production sound.

ELECTRO HOUSE. 2000s - 2010s.

House with heavily synethesized effects. Can be anything from mosh style US rave music to anime samples to just about everything in between.

FUTURE HOUSE. 2010s.

UK style .. came out of Deep House (see below). Has a lot of drops, and in keeping to many other London styles (Dub, Garage, Grime, etc), the bassline is usually chopped about with.

BASS HOUSE. Late 90s - 2010s.

It's House music with a harder gritter bass than normal.  And often quite intense and dark of a sound or vocals, with many bassline chops, typical of the UK/London scene in general.

UK GARAGE (UKG). 90s - 2000s.

Soulful RnB influenced take on House a distinctive UK sound massively popular everywhere around turn of the millenium. It's getting a revival in the USA now (2018) with old & new being picked up for festivals over there.

UK SPEED GARAGE. 1990s.

Nothing to do with the drug ... it's a pacier club version of UKG. Just a lot faster.

GARAGE HOUSE. 1980s.

Coming out of the New York club scene. Closer to Disco than other house genres, except maybe EuroHouse/Dance. Important in UK music history as the style of soul sampling in NY Garage lead to RnB sampling in UK Garage.

DEEP HOUSE. Late 1980s  - 2010s

120-125bpm house genre. Low basslines and a silky, fresh sound, from mellow to somewhat more introspective feeling and darker, depending on the track.

MINIMAL HOUSE. Late 1990s

Similar to Deep House in having a low bassline, but much sparser. It's a mainly European experimentation from combining House and Minimal Techno.

TECH HOUSE. 1980s

A house genre coming out of mid 80s Spain. Similar harmonies to progressive house but a lot different effects, industrial/cold.

PROGRESSIVE HOUSE. 1980s - 2010s

House music with long extended layered structure to it. Mostly quite a mellow sound. Usually much longer than 6-7 minute club tracks & about half way in style to the Trance genre.

EUROHOUSE. 1980s - 90s

EuroHouse is a kinda electronic disco / dance genre. has the off beat hi-hats of mainstream House, but with a nearly constant "bouncy" bassline. As clubs turned into raves 90s - today, turned into Gabber and "Happy Hardcore".

CLASSIC HOUSE. 1980s - 90s

House kicked off in Chicago, taking 3 minute soul and funk tracks, adding a base line, & then looping over 6-7 minutes 2 make club music. The classic sound is very upbeat, lot of instrumental and vocal samples added on top. House is always 4 time with usu hi-hats on the offbeats!
