Pressure & Stress

Pressure & Stress

Pressure can come in many forms. From exams, from work, from friends, family or finances, from tight deadlines. Pressure can be constant and intense or slowly build in the background chipping away at a calm interior or causing the mood to fall. Stress is the effect and while some stress may be good - depending on your make-up - too much stress is bad for both the mind and the body. Pressure and stress can lead to all kinds of effects on your thought patterns, and even those who are "doing well in life" are definitely not immune from it and may , in spite of all they have going for them, still be very unhappy.

Thoughts on pressure and stress

Similar thoughts to the anxiety page, the effects as nerves or low mood or tiredness or fretting may be similar. Only in the case of pressure there is a clear cause and if the pressure is too much the best thing to do is make a big life change - figure out what you are actually up for which is not pulling apart the pieces. Something as simple as "having to sit too still" or "having to stand and talk too regularly" can make all the difference.

You could consider what is really causing the pressure or the stress?! Suppose it was from work life: Is it the job as a whole, or just one particular feature of it maybe? Perhaps it's something very simple and should just change job then, to make the change, and remove the part which is causing all the problems for you.

I think pressure is especially tough on kids. With so many tests to complete these days, modules every year or even twice a year. It doesn't seem fair, to me, to put them through so many ongoing hurdles with no periods to truly relax up and just find their feet and express themselves without society making such regular demands. It will probably have impacts creating more nervous work force in the future (or which always thinks on short time scales, but, is that enough for building an economy?).

Recommend: Progressive House as a hugely relaxing genre if you do not know it (below).
